Course duration estimate: 1 hr

This 1 hour course is designed to train employees to recognize the hazards associated with ladders, stairways, and the type of scaffold being used at the work site and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards. This class is for awareness only and does not qualify you to erect, move, or dismantle scaffolds, contact EH&S at healthandsafety@ucdavis.edu for the required ‘hands on’ scaffold erection training. Course objectives include:

  • Identifying the types of portable ladders and their use, capacities, and safety considerations.
  • Describing the specific use, capacities, and safety features of fixed ladders.
  • Specifying proper guidelines for ladder maintenance.
  • Identifying general scaffold requirements and safety considerations.

**PLEASE NOTE: The Learning Management System (LMS), where trainings are housed, is set up for employees. If you are a student or visiting scholar, you must request access to the system before you can complete your training. Please email sdps@ucdavis.edu to request access to the system.
