21 years, but started as a student volunteer in 2001.
 

What does Wellness mean to you?

Wellness means those days when I wake up well-rested, feeling good physically, have time for some movement during the day, and have energy to handle whatever the day brings with a smile on my face.
 

Why did you become a wellness ambassador?

I used to be an ambassador at campus EH&S, and then stepped back for a while, and now that I came to work at Health EH&S I took it up again.
 

How long have you been a wellness ambassador?

About a year.

 

What has been the most rewarding or positive part about your experience thus far?

I like circulating the newsletter and posting wellbeing material in the breakroom. The participatory highlight has been checking out the leaderboards with our Walker Tracker challenge team.
 

What are some challenges you face as a wellness ambassador?

It is hard for folks to find the time to do wellness activities during their workday.
 

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new wellness ambassadors?

Attend the support group meetings for good ideas. Keep sharing information with your department.
 

Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being aims to build an environment that makes the healthier choice the easier one, while providing staff and faculty with the required support to make UC Davis the healthiest community. How do you feel you have contributed to our mission?

By sharing wellbeing information I have done my part to normalize these conversations as part of our work. I really appreciate Staff and Faculty Wellbeing for creating so many resources to make this easy for the Wellness Ambassadors.
 

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I like to cook and travel. For fitness I run and do strength training.
