EH&S Director Plotkin Accepts New Role at UCLA

UC Davis Environmental Health & Safety Director, Curtis Plotkin, has accepted the role of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Environment, Health & Safety at UCLA.

Curtis’ last day at UC Davis will be July 22 and a recruitment to fill his position will be launched immediately.

Curtis joined UC Davis in 2015, from UC Riverside, stepping into an EH&S director position that was vacant for a while, and his challenge was to improve all our safety programs, partnerships, and regulatory requirements.

“Everyone who knows Curtis, knows how passionate he is about safety,” remarked Eric Kvigne, Associate Vice Chancellor for Safety Services. “For the past seven years, Curtis has done an exceptional job reinvigorating our safety programs, and leaving behind a solid team of experienced and service-oriented professionals.”

At UCLA, Curtis will lead a team of 70 safety professionals and will report directly to the Vice Chancellor of Administration. “With more than 30 years of experience in the private sector, government and higher education, Curtis is uniquely qualified to help lead in this critical role,” said UCLA Administrative Vice Chancellor Michael Beck. “We are thrilled to welcome him into the Bruin family.”

I’d like to thank all the students and employees who helped me grow over my time at UC Davis. The safety culture at UC Davis is thriving and you’re all the perfect people to keep it going."
